Yes, this post is about food, not only food but GOOD food, which is one of my favorite things in the world. So here are 5 amazing foods that, if we are not already eating them, we should definitely start.
Whole Grains
Whole grains are amazing. They are full of folate, increase blood flow to the brain, and have lots of vitamin B6. They also have thiamine, which is good for inproving your memory and help prevent memory loss. They are also loaded with fiber and some whole grains like barley, oats and rye, supply benefits for blood cholesterol.

Milk
Milk is another wonder food. It keeps bones healthy and is loaded with calcium and vitamin D. Vitamin D is something we all need. Just the impact Vitamin D has on immune-system functioning alone is astounding. Besides compromising our ability to fight illness, a deficit of vitamin D is linked to an epidemic of type 1 diabetes in children and other autoimmune diseases like MS. It’s also being named as a culprit in the development of a number of cancers as well as heart disease. I recommend organic milk, and don’t drink too much of it.

Pulses
Yum! Pulses! Also known as legumes, dried peas and beans, pulses just don’t get the respect they deserve. Put that together with the research that shows these foods can reduce blood cholesterol levels, help to regulate blood sugar and blood-pressure readings, and legumes are a clear winner as a meat substitute. They are a great source of protein as well.

Berries
I can’t live without berries, they are truly a wonder food. Blueberries help improve motor skills and overall learning capacity. Most berries are packed with antioxidants, and most of them contain fisetin and flavenoid, which are great for improving your memory and allowing you to easily recall past events. Some berries also defend against certain cancers while others promote healthy arteries. My personal favorite are raspberries…*Runs off to the store for berries*

Sweet Potatoes
A nutritional All-Star, this is one of the best vegetables you can eat. They’re loaded with carotenoids, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. They are high in maganese and iron, and at the same time low on the calories. They are an antioxidant rich, anti-inflammatory food. The list goes on and on for this food, it is truly amazing.

So it’s time for me to go grocery shopping, how about you? Enjoy and eat up! Until next time,
Lyla
